Yes this wood comes from the ACORN tree which doesn't exist in Australia. American OAK is a species of WHITE OAK and comonly used in alchol production.
This is limited supply and is sourced from offcuts resulting in the production of Oak Barrels to hold a variety of alcholic types.
Note that these wood blocks vary in size and average to the size of your palm of your hand, ideal for the backyard smoker.Use just like wood chunks, add 2 or 3 blocks or more if you desire to unlit charcoal when doing a snake or minion burn method in your smoker barbecue.
American OAK has a great vanilla/coconut aroma to it and is great for hot smoking fish and imparts a mild flavour, slighty stronger than a fruitwood but milder than hickory.
Works well on beef, pork and chicken and great all round wood, perfect for beginners as its not overpowering if you put to much.
Try it on Hot Smoked Salmon or Pork.
Comes in 500g zip loc bag.
