Binchoutan is all natural branch charcoal which is harder than regular charcoal. It rings with a metallic sound when struck.
Although it is often thought that binchōtan burns hot, it actually burns at a lower temperature than ordinary charcoal but for a longer period, making it preferable as it does not release smoke or other unpleasant odours whislt burning.
Best to use a charcoal chimney starter or binchotan starter pan on gas stove to light this charcoal - it may take up to 45 mins to light and should burn between 2 to 4 hours depending on charcoal size and BBQ used.
This product is made in the country of LAOS using traditional Japanesse charcoal manufacturing methods.
