Description
Stainless Steel, Perforated Smoker Tube for Wood Pellets
6" Tube / 15cm long
2" Dia / 5cm Dia
Use with hardwood pellets (do not use softwood pellets or pellets with additives/artificial binders or from unknown wood material). Ideal wood pellets are formed under heat and pressure and have no contaminants.
Fill tube with pellets to the end - note if you use course wood chip then there may be too much empty gaps for smoldering wood to continue to smolder. If you use sawdust, the wood will spill out of the holes and may not have enough airflow for coninuous smoldering. Use pellets for best results.
Wood pellets used in BBQ smokers require a blow torch to heat up the pellets from the open end of the tube. You can allow a flame to burn at the start, which once well lit should be blown out and allowed smoulder creating smoke. Potentially 1 to 2 hours of smoke from one filled tube, depending on pellet, tempurature in the BBQ and moisture/weather. You may need to re-ignite pellets so best keep an eye on it.
Note for food safety, never try to smoke raw food below 60C without curing or brining before hand as below that tempurature bacteria can grow and potentially be harmful.
You can smoke beef / steaks at above 60C for an hour or two before grilling.
You can also use this tube in your pellet smoker to add extra smoke in your cook.
